Irene Myers

Irene Myers was born in Berwick on March 14, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Murray Edward O'Donnell of Millstream and Marjorie "Beth" Northrup of Berwick Corner.

She was an avid skier and loved to act as well as go to dances. When the girls were young they loved to go to dances where Murray would play the fiddle. Whenever Dorothy got the chance she would sneak away to have a cigarette and Irene would always be quick to tell their dad. Irene used to put her makeup on the way to school so our mother wouldn’t see her as it was a “no-no” to do that as a young teen.  After Irene graduated high school, she immediately began her working career at NBTel on Broad Street in Sussex; later finding herself at the Bank of Montreal in Germany. On her return to Sussex, she began her 35 year career at the Bank of Nova Scotia on Main Street. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch Ladies Auxiliary # 20 for over 37 years.

Irene was the loving mother of Wanda Chamberlain and her husband Paul of Brantford, Ontario and grandmother of Amanda, Alanna and Joani; great grandmother of Jacob. Irene is also survived by her two sisters: Dorothy Northrup and her husband Robert of Apohaqui,  Marjorie Keirstead and her husband Nelson of Millstream; her brother: Ronald and his wife Kathy of Musquash; as well as several nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her special friend John Dearman in 2008.

Mrs. Irene Helen Myers of Main Street Sussex passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on February 28, 2010 at the age of 68.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm.

The Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch #20 Ladies Auxiliary will hold a tribute Tuesday evening at 5:45pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Francis Xavier RC Church on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 10:00 am with Fr. Arnie Hachey officiating.

There will be a time of fellowship with the family in the Church Hall immediately following the Mass.

The interment will take place at St. Phillips RC Cemetery in the spring.

As an expression of sympathy donations made to: The Peoples Serenity Garden, Sussex Hospice, or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
