Mrs.
Mildred Irene Kierstead of Kiwanis Nursing Home
formerly of Berwick passed away at her residence on
January 18, 2010 at the age of 85. Born in Saint John
on January 12, 1925, she was the daughter of the late
Elijah and Elizabeth (Jonah) Kierstead and the wife of
the late Daryl Winfield Keirstead
who passed away in 1993. Mildred was very active with
the Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch # 20 Ladies
Auxillary, she donated many hours in the kitchen
preparing for banquets and held the offices of
president, vice president and secretary. She was a
member of Wesley United Church in Berwick, the UCW,
the Womens Institute and Millstream Seniors. Mildred
volunteered countless hours at Betty Webb's special
care home, enjoyed sewing, knitting and in her spare
time she loved to quilt and she made sure all of her
family have one. During her years at the Kiwanis
Nursing Home she participated in as much as possible:
she enjoyed bowling, manicures, bingo, sing-a-longs,
day trips in the van and Sunday Church Service.
