Zona Smith


Zona Doreen Smith was born in Sussex on April 7, 1942; she was the daughter of the late Allwyn and Sybil (Snider) Norrad and the wife of the late Lloyd Smith who passed away in 1991. Family was the most important part of Zona’s life. She lived life to its fullest and made everyday count; she loved music and was full of fun. Zona was a former employee of the Sussex Health Centre where she left a positive impact on patients and staff alike.

Zona is survived by her children: Jeff Smith of Berwick; Darlene Doyle of Picadilly and Lisa Smith at home; her grandchildren: Barrett and Alex Doyle; Connor and Drew Smith; She will be sadly missed by her brothers Bert Norrad and his wife Ruth of Sussex, Paul Norrad and his wife Shirley of Quispamsis, Dale Norrad and his wife Cathy of Massachusetts, USA, Jack Norrad and Pat Berry of Picadilly, Ansel Norrad of Saint John; her sisters; Gerry Proctor and Bill Kyte of Sussex, Ruby McMackin and her husband Pat of Sussex, Darlene Baxter and Nancy Deveau both of Saint John; Zona is also survived by several in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and her two dearest friends Ruth Nelson of Sussex and Velma Ratkowski of Ontario. Zona was predeceased two daughters: Wanda in 1961and Ivy-Rose in 2004.

 
 

Zona passed away after a long courageous battle with cancer at her home with her family by her side on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at the age of 65.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Tuesday July 10, from 2-4 and 7-9pm.

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at 11:00 am from St. Paul's United Church, Main Street, Sussex, New Brunswick with Rev. Philip Dallimore officiating.  The interment will take place at Lester Cemetery.

Donations made to St. Paul’s United Church, Sussex or to the Memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
