Obituary of Rev. Hazen Bernard Ricker

Rev. Hazen Ricker was born in Maine, USA, on June 16, 1935; he was the son of the late Ivan and Hope (McLaughlin) Ricker and the husband of Norma Lee (Logan) Ricker who passed away in 2009. Hazen served as Pastor of many Wesleyan Churches over the years including Bristol, Port Maitland, Digby, Grand Manan, Sussex, Perth Andover, Barkers Point and for the past 16 years as Pastor of the Cumberland Point First Baptist Church. He was well known for his love of family, Kingswood University, his life in Ministry, especially when his wife Norma Lee was a part of it, his love for animals, good fishing streams, watching the deer in the fields, his friends, good conversation and great jokes at Tim Hortons and McDonalds. Hazen also has served on the Board of Directors at Kingswood University, formerly Bethany Bible College. He served as Treasurer for Beulah Camp for over 20 years as well as in many other capacities and roles in the operation of Beulah Camp including the very popular Ice Cream Stand. Hazen will continue to live on in the hearts of his children: Graydon and Norma Ricker of Sussex; Greg and Shelly Ricker of Fredericton and Darlene and Bob Perreault of Apohaqui; his sister Phyllis and David Henderson of Lakeland, Florida, his brother Robert Ricker of Maine; his six grandchildren: Gregory Ricker Jr., Michelle Wallace her husband Drew, Shawn Ricker and his wife Kimberly, Alex Nickerson, Evan Ricker and his wife Suzanne, Ashlee Rogers and her husband Bradford; five great grandchildren: Creston, Brayden, Mason, Caleb, and Amelia; his sister-in-law Sharon Fry of PEI, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Rev. Hazen Bernard Ricker of Sussex passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday,February 28th, 2016 at the age of 80. He is predeceased by his wife Norma Lee (Logan) Ricker who passed away in 2009 , his parents Ivan and Hope (McLaughlin) Ricker, step mother Elaine (Jensen) Ricker and his beloved companion Molly. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB. Visitation will be held from Sussex Wesleyan Church, 280 St George St, Sussex, on Tuesday March 1st, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A service celebrating Rev. Ricker's life will be held from Sussex Wesleyan Church Wednesday morning at 11:00 followed by a reception in the Church Hall. A private family interment will take place in Riverbank Cemetery. Hazen will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends.
