Obituary of Julia Virtue

Julia B. Virtue was born in Sussex on April 18, 1934, she was the daughter of the late John J. Virtue and Sadie (Kierstead) Virtue.

 

Julia was a member of St. Paul's United Church and the Sussex Seniors.

 

After graduation she went to work in Moncton for a Chartered accountant for several years. She ventured up to Ottawa for a year and a half. Decided to come back to NB, she went to work at Times & Transcript until she was married and moved back to Apohaqui and Sussex area. She worked at the Bank of Nova Scotia for several years. She moved back to Sussex and took care of her parents for a few years.

 

She has been involved with Sussex Senior Citizen Group. She was the president of the group. Julia also keeps in touch with some of the girls that she worked with from the Bank. They often went out to supper to catch up on what everyone knows. Julia enjoyed knitting, crocheting and enjoyed reading. She enjoyed playing Skip-Bo and cards.

 

Julia was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

 

She was survived by her nieces and nephews: Clarence Virtue and his wife Geneviève of Sudbury, James Virtue and his wife Barbara of Calgary, Sharon Virtue of Toronto, Wesley Virtue of Edmonton and Betty Fowler and her husband Bruce of Lakeville; her her great nieces and nephews: Eric, Sophie, Kevin and Lindsay Virtue and Melissa Fowler; as well as several cousins; her aunt, Doris Kierstead and by her special niece, Jeannie Sharp.

 

Julia B. Virtue of Sussex passed away at the Sussex Health Center on August 31, 2019 at the age of 85.

 

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers: Raymond Virtue and John D. and his wife Helen.

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). A Celebration of Julia's life will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 3:00pm. 

In lieu of flowers, if you are considering making a memorial donation the family has recommended the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
