Obituary of David Francis Wilkins

Is it with sadness that we announce the passing of David Francis Wilkins who died peacefully at the Sussex Health Centre on December 20, 2019. He was born in Saint John, NB on January 25, 1952, a son of the late Chester and Aleta (Prosser) Wilkins. David tried his hat at the Military and when he decided that it was not for him, he went to work in construction in Ontario. Later, David would bring himself back to NB where he worked for Coca Cola and Irving. On his search for a career that brought him true happiness, he moved to NS for over thirty years – working in a nail factory, as well as Day & Night signs and Mattatall Signs. In his last few remaining years he joined the Canadian Commissionaires Corp, which was finally a place he thoroughly loved. He worked the main gate at CFB Shearwater. David is survived by his brother, Wayne Wilkins and his wife Brenda of Sussex, NB and by his sister, Susan Black of Sussex, NB; his brother-in-law, Douglas Black of Sussex, NB; his nieces: Crista Vail (Tim), Lisa Otis (Tommy) and Melissa Black and by his nephew, Douglas Black Jr. (Robin Fanjoy); as well as as several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Timothy Guy Wilkins. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex (506-433-1176) from where visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-3 and 6-8pm A Celebration of David’s life conducted by Jeanette Cosman will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 2:00pm followed by a private family interment.
