Obituary of Aldene "Deanie" Gionet

It is with sadness that the family of Aldene “Deanie" Mary Gionet (Hourihan), age 78 of Sussex, NB announces her death which occurred peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at the Kiwanis Nursing Home. Deanie was born in Southfield, NB on April 2, 1941, a daughter of the late Patrick and Lulu (Cummings) Hourihan. Deanie will live on in the hearts of her daughter, Joanne (Stephen) Hughson; grandchildren: Shane (Megan), Drew (Cassandra), Brandon, Lucas and Noah; her step grandchildren: Juanita & Taylor; and step great-granddaughter, Khole; sisters: Juliana Booth, Patricia (Rick) Horton, Zita (Eric) Hourihan–Giffin and Bernice (Art) Wilson; brothers: Richard Hourihan and Sterling (Chris) Hourihan; sister-in-law, Anne Marie Hourihan as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Deanie was predeceased by her son, Ronald and her brothers, Leo and Robert and brother-in-law, David Booth. Deanie loved opportunities to socialize with family and friends and to travel. Her travels took her across Canada, the U.S., Germany, Switzerland, Ireland and Alaska. She was passionate about genealogy and through her years of research, self-published 2 Family Tree books on the Cummings and Hourihan ancestors. Her other hobbies included reading, playing cards and knitting. Deanie had a very fulfilling work life. She worked in banking, as a housekeeper for Professor Walter Cady in Providence, Rhode Island and finally retired from several years working as a licensed insurance representative. The family of Aldene Gionet wishes to thank Dr. Allaby, Dr. Butler, Dr. Macmillan and Dr. MacMullin along with both staffs at Kiwanis Nursing Home and Sussex Health Center for the excellent care, kindness and compassion given. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) where visitation will be held on Monday, January 20, 2020 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 11am, with Father Paul Erzoah-Bebodu officiating. A private interment will take place in the Spring at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery, Norton, NB.
