Obituary of Mona McMurray

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Mona E. McMurray, 74, of Red Bank on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at the Dr. Chalmers Hospital. Born in Alma, she was a daughter to the late Clifford and Sarah (Hood) Dixon.

Mona was a person you just couldn’t help but love. She was an absolute gem and was loved by all. She had a strong moral character, with integrity and honor. Mona never swore or uttered an unkind word towards another person. She was humble and grateful always. She had the biggest heart and was so very kind. She would help anyone anyway she could, even if it meant she went without. Her generosity was without limits and she never expected anything in return. Mona had a quiet reserve about her and one always felt comfortable in her presence. But she still had a funny side and a sharp, quick whit that would unexpectedly and randomly fill the room with fits of laugher. Mona loved her husband Scott and her children more than anything. She was so very proud of them and all that they have accomplished. She equally loved her grandchildren and would look forward to having them around at the lake or just spending time together. Second to her family, Mona cherished being outside. She loved nature, fishing, snowmobiling, gardening, bird watching, puzzles, games, music, dancing and watching the sun set and rise on the Lake. The “Hollow Oak” was her Happy Place. We will forever miss her and our lives will never be the same. Sadly missed, never forgotten, always loved.

Mona is survived and sadly missed by her husband, Scott McMurray; her daughter, Denise (Mike) Foglein of Canaan; her son, Randal (Lisa) McMurray of New Line; her brothers: Tommy Dixon, Ellie Dixon, Clifford Dixon, and Jeanie Dixon; her sisters: Lottie Dixon, Gail Dixon and Reta Dixon; her grandchildren: Dani Foglein, James Foglein, Brandon McMurray, Brittany McMurray, and Meghan McMurray; her 5 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Mona was predeceased by her brother Sunny Dixon, Jimmy Dixon and Carl Dixon.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex (506) 433-1176 from where the Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 2:00pm with Jeanette Cosman officiating.
