Obituary of Donald Francis Crawford

Donald Francis Crawford, 79, passed away at home on December 24, 2021 surrounded by family. Donnie was born in Coles Island and was the youngest son of Ethel (nee Boyd) and Chester Crawford.

Donnie had a lengthy career as a Journeyman Electrician and worked in his field for over 50 years at Border Electric, Point LePreau, Potash Corporation, Tremtech and DF Electrical.

In addition to Donnie’s professional career, he also contributed to his community through his volunteer work as an Auxiliary RCMP Officer, Minor Baseball, Anglican Trinity Scouts, Canada Summer Games held in Saint John in 1985, and the Sussex Fish and Games Association where he was made a Lifetime member.  

Donnie enjoyed participating and watching his three children compete in sport and continued to enjoy watching his six grandchildren compete in sport as well. In addition, Donnie enjoyed playing cards, staying connected and going out for a meal with family and friends. 

Donnie made lifelong friends in every avenue of his life; work, volunteering, helping others, and through his family. Donnie was loved and will be missed by many.

 Donnie is survived by his wife Anna (nee Hodgson), daughters Patti Crawford-Baxter (Ules) of Newtown, NB, Carla Gillis (nee Crawford) (Sean) of Antigonish, NS and son, Perry Crawford (Melanie) of Mount Middleton, NB, sister Sylvia Pagett of Markhamville, NB and five grandchildren: Quinn, Tate, Nate, Alli, and Seanie as well as many extended family members and friends.

Besides his parents, Donnie was predeceased by his sisters Jeanette Crawford, Ada Wallace, Marie Anderson, Eva London, and Hazel Richardson, his brothers Roy, Allen, Merton, Harold, Frank, Ronald, Ralph, and Robert. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 28th, at 1:30 pm in Wesley United Church in Berwick, NB. If you are unable to attend and would still like to take part, please contact the funeral home to add your name to the list and receive the zoom link.
