Obituary of Gertrude Evelyn Taylor

It is with deep sadness that the family of Gertrude Evelyn Taylor announce her passing, peacefully with her family by her side on December 31, 2021 at the age of 97.  Born in Dutch Valley on March 6, 1924, she was the daughter of the late William and Carolyn (Hall) Creighton and the wife of the late Harold E Taylor.

Gert had a feistiness to her. She was unafraid to bite back when she needed to - she had no shortage of spunk and her family loved that about her. Anyone that met her knew how she could make you feel like family. And for her, family was her whole life. Being a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother wasn't just a job she had to do but something she was passionate about. Her greatest joy was her family and getting to look after them. She took pride in waiting on her husband and her boys hand and foot. And as much as she loved to be home and knitting, playing cards, or watching her soap stories, she also loved to go out shopping.  Family was her most treasured gift in life and they  feel so lucky to have loved someone so selfless, loving, feisty, and wonderful.

Gertrude will live on in the hearts of her daughter-in-law, Sharon Taylor of Millbrook, and her granddaughter Hilary of Moncton; her grandson, Troy (Amy) and great-grandson Zachery, step-great-grandchildren: Cole and Emma all of Midland; her grandson, David (Christa) and great-granddaughter, Faith of Moncton; her granddaughter, Trudi (Lucien) Cormier and great-granddaughter, Lily of Riverview.

Along with her parents and husband, she's predeceased by her brother William Junior and her sons: Ernest W. and H. Kenneth.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176) from where visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 from 6-8pm. A Celebration of Gertrude’s life will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 2:00pm.  Due to the recent COVID-19 regulations, proof of government identification and vaccination must be provided for entry and masks are mandatory.
