She was born in Hillsdale, NB, on March 20, 1939, a daughter of the late Harold and Bernice (McDonald) McIntosh.

Florence boarded out to go to school and made many friends along the way, especially the Friars and Tabor families. She was the best mother anyone could ask for, kind, caring and loving. She always put everyone before herself. Florence was a hard worker and could do anything she put her mind to. She worked out cleaning homes and cooking at the Friars and Bluebird Restaurants. She would also work on the farm with Clarence and the girls. She was the best cook and always enjoyed being in the kitchen. Knitting and sewing were also among the things she loved to do with her spare time. Florence and Clarence were always there to help each other, married 56 years, you could always find them working together side by side. She was a past member of the Orange Lodge for many years.

Florence is survived by her loving husband Clarence McFarlane; daughters: Lynn Smith (Dwayne), Lorraine Lucas (Shawn) and Lorna McFarlane (Thomas Armstrong); grandchildren: Parker Smith, Hayley Lucas (Srdjan Bunjy) and Colton Lucas; great grandson Hunter Smith; sister June Stafford of Stillwater, ME; brothers: Frank Spence (Mabel) of New Horton, NB and William James Maxwell of ON; as well as several nieces and nephews.
