Obituary of Patricia Mills

Local Artist Patricia Mills (Hamm) left this world on May 06, 2022, at age 81.

She was born to Clarence and Greta Hamm and grew up in Rothesay, New Brunswick, where she had fond memories as a child, of leaping the fence in her yard, to skate on the Commons Rink next door. Her first painting at the age of 13, was of the local gas station and Patricia went on to study Art under Canadian Artist, Fred Ross. She became a well-known artist in her own right, hosting many exhibits throughout Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

Pat was happiest cycling or beachcombing with her camera, collecting stones, sea glass and driftwood while searching for inspiration. Classical music, classic rock and even a little Pink Floyd was her groove, as she brought her photographs to life on canvas. She was best known for her detailed seascapes, landscapes and beautiful portraits.

Patricia was a Christian and kept her bible close, able to quote many versus by heart, for any occasion. She loved the sounds of a babbling brook, waves crashing on a beach and chirping birds, at her feeders. She always owned a cat, whom she would love dearly.

Patricia is predeceased by her brother Buddy and sister Sylvia. She is survived by her sister Arlene (David), son Douglas (Wanda), daughters Iris (David) Heidi, chosen daughter Amanda and eight grandchildren Josh, Michael, Kyle, Melissa, Jenna, Kiera, Luke and Griffyn, as well as four great grandchildren Sophie, Connor, Kai and Jaden.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176). A Celebration of Life will be held from Trinity Cemetery on Tuesday, May 24 at 11am.
