Obituary of Verna Cyrena Mason-DeJeet

Verna Mason-Dejeet of Coles Island passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on August 19th 2022 at the age of 85. Born on August 10th 1937, Verna was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, friend and so much more to many near and far. She lived with her husband, Mac in Watertown, MA where she worked at Instrumentation Laboratory for many years building circuit boards for computers and then later cared for seniors in their homes. They returned to Canada in 2003 where they spent the rest of their retirement. Verna was very involved with her church, Faith Bible Baptist.

Verna is survived by her husband, Rev. Alfred DeJeet; her daughter, Iris (Rheal) Richard of Cocagne, NB; her grandson, Albert (Ashley) and great granddaughter Ally Mary Richard of Miramichi, NB; her sister, Eileen (Bernard) Miller of Head of Millstream, NB; her special cousins, Delbert Beach (Linda) of Coles Island, NB, and Glendon Beach of Coles Island, NB; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Verna is predeceased by her first husband, Malcolm Mason; her mother, Violet Parlee; her brother, Leland Beach; and her nephew, Lawrence Beach.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Ward and the nursing staff at the Sussex Health Centre for the care that was given to Verna throughout her time in palliative care.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex (506-433-1176). The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, August 23 from 4-7pm from the Wallace Community Chapel. A celebration of Verna’s life will take place from Faith Bible Baptist Church, 33 Pine St, Sussex (506-433-4685) on Wednesday, August 24 at 11:00am.
