Obituary of Kathleen Mundee

Mrs. Kathleen Margaret 'Peg' Mundee of Kiwanis Nursing Home, Sussex, passed away at her residence on December 5, 2005 at the age 85. Born in Wards Creek on April 16, 1920, she was the daughter of the late William John and Bertha Elizabeth (Stapleford) O'Connor and the beloved wife of the late Donald Mundee. Peg is survived by her daughter Kathleen and her husband John Lyons of Rhode Island, her foster brother, Wesley Stapleford of Fredericton, a half brother, Paul Faherty both of and a half sister, Patricia Silva all of Massachusetts, two granddaughters, Jane and Emily as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Peg was predeceased by her half sister, Marjorie, her foster sister, Edith Benneth and her by her half brother, John Faherty. Peg graduated from Sussex High School, received her nursing degree from Fredericton Hospital School of Nursing and also attended UNB. Peg was a retired Public Health Nurse, she was a member of St. Paul's United Church, where she was also a member of the UCW and WI. Peg was a former board member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Cerebral Palsy Foundation. She belonged to many private bridge clubs including the Marathon Bridge Club. Peg was a former volunteer at the Fredericton Hospital and was always a willing canvasser. Peg was also the author of 'Stepping Back in Time' a local history of Wards Creek. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). At Peg's request there was no visitation. The Memorial Service will be held from St. Paul's United Church on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at 11:00 am followed by a time of fellowship with the family in Church Hall.
