Obituary of George Bridgeo

Rev. George "Bruce" Bridgeo of Browns Flat, NB passed away at Saint John Regional Hospital on July 1, 2005 at the age of 78. Born in Port Maitland, NS on May 31, 1927, He was the son of the late Edward and Christine (Parry) Bridgeo. Bruce is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years; Mary Ella (Haywood) Bridgeo, his three children; Edward Bridgeo and his wife Lydia of Sussex, Joan McCoy and her husband Stuart of Rowann, Indiania and Dr. David Bridgeo of Windsor, Ontario, his sister Mabel Stone of Belleville, Ontario, five grandchildren; Tracey Carter, Jodi McGibbon, Shane McGibbon, Capt's Robyn and Stephanie Bridgeo, Ryan and Holly Bridgeo and Jeff McCoy and twelve great grandchildren; Jesse and Shawn Carter, Dustin, Cody and Nicholas Wilson, Billie McGibbon, Ashley, Hannah and Elijah Bridgeo, and Jordan, Taylor and Micah Bridgeo, as well as several nieces and nephews. Bruce was predeceased by six sisters; Neta, Violet, Katherine, Louise, Alice and Elsie and by three brothers; Clyde, Robert and Edward. Bruce was a retired Wesleyan Minister and College Professor. In 1945, Bruce attended Holiness Bible Institute in Woodstock, NB. He was the interim pastor at the Reformed Baptist Church in Woods Harbour and later pastored at the Reformed Baptist Church in Jonesport, Maine from 1949 to 1953. From 1953 to 1958 Bruce attended Olivet Nazarene University receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree. Following graduation he taught at Bethany Bible College in Yarmouth, NS until 1959 when he began pastoring for the Reformed Baptist Church in Halifax, NS. In 1967, he began teaching in Sussex at Bethany Bible College and in 1969 he received his Masters degree. In 1992, Bruce retired and moved to his summer home in Browns Flat. He and his wife Mary wintered in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for three years and later wintered in Florida for the next seven winters. From 2004- 2005 Bruce resided in his home in Browns Flat, NB. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, and (506-433-1176). The Funeral Service will be from Beulah Camp Tabernacle on Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at 2:00 pm. The interment will take place in Browns Flat Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy donations made to Bethany Bible College or to the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
