Joanie was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch # 20 Ladies Auxiliary. She was affectionately known as Joansie, Joanie, Maudie or Hedgie. She was a special mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She had a special way with people, always thinking of others before herself and she always was there with a heartfelt hug. In her youth, she loved to sing even though it certainly wasn't one of her greatest talents and she could dance with the best of them. Joanie was very humble and never sought to be the center of attention, she would always change a conversation around to the other person rather than talk about herself. To her, life was a rainbow and at the end of hers Ron was waiting patiently. She loved the slot machines, bingo, scratch tickets, cards, knitting, needlepoint and quilting. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held from Wallace Memorial Chapel on Sunday, October 24, 2004 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Philip Dallimore officiating. There will be a time of fellowship with the family following the service. The interment will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Brantford, Ontario.
