Obituary of Charlotte Pickett

Mrs. Charlotte Pickett of Kiwanis Nursing Home Sussex, NB, passed away at her residence on Tuesday July 30, 2002. Born in Poodiac on May 2, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Alice (Allaby) Pollock. Charlotte was a unique and gifted woman as she taught school for a short time without even finishing high school herself. She boarded with Mr. and Mrs. Percy Crossman where she met Fred Crossman, whom she wed on June 29, 1951. From this marriage came two children, Arliss and Curtis. After his untimely death in 1978 Charlotte married Fred Pickett on September 29, 1979 and together they operated various business ventures both in Prince Edward Island and Havelock, NB. In the early 1980s Charlotte managed the restaurant at the Havelock Irving from where she retired in 1992. She thoroughly enjoyed her family and friends dropping in and would always offer a home cooked meal, for which she became well known. Always putting others before herself, Charlotte gave freely of her time and energy without judgment. Her unfailing kindness will long be remembered and will linger in the hearts of her family and friends. Even with Charlotte's busy life she always made time to attended Church. After her failing health she resided at Birch Haven Special Care Home and the Kiwanis Nusing Home, where during her stay she won the hearts of all who knew her.The family will always remember the many acts of kindness that were shown to Charlotte that were far beyond the call of duty. Charlotte Pickett She is survived by her 2nd husband Fred Pickett, her daughter Arliss Doucette and her husband Terry of Hunter River, PEI her son Curtis Crossman of Mississauga, 2 step-sons-Dan Gardiner (Nancy) and Dana Pickett (Kathy) all of Saint John, 3 step-daughters Cheryl Hewlett (Roy) of Moncton; Kelly Stern (Garry) of Calgary, Joyce Gillies of Halifax, her brother Norm Pollock (Lorraine) of Sussex, 4 sisters Frances Carr of Saint John; Winnie Bradshaw (Joe) and Betty Taylor (Clarence) all of Halifax, Dorothy Hayes (Cecil) of Florida; 5 step-sisters Isabel Secord of Hampton; Phyllis McGarity (Everett) and Gwen Rugne (Lou) all of Cambridge Narrows; Eileen Noel (Harry) of Pictou, Vera Smith of Oshawa, 3 step-brothers, Bob of Havelock; Don of Fredericton, Murray (Phyllis) of Cambridge Narrows, 6 Grand children; Shannon, Curtis, Corey, Melissa, Ryan and Becky 2 great grand children; Dale, Kelsey 5 step grand children; 2 step great grand children as well as several nieces and nephews Charlotte was predeceased by 2 sisters Ruth and Marie; her brother Ron, a half brother Kenneth, 2 half sisters Willa and Gertie and by a stepbrother Allan Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where the family will be receiving relatives and friends on Wednesday 2-4, 7-9pm The Funeral Service will be held from Canaan United Baptist Church on Thursday, August 1, 2002 at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Wayne Ward officiating. Interment at New Canaan Cemetery.
