MR. DOUGLAS RODERICK HAYWARD, of Sussex, NB, passed away at his residence on June 7, 2002. Born in Saint John, NB on January 31, 1930, he was the son of the late John James and Bessie (Clain) Hayward. Douglas is survived by his longtime companion Helen McGaghey, by his daughters, Carolyn Hayward and Mel, Judy Lane and her husband Kerry all of Ontario, Ella Melvin and Ralph, Alice Hayward and Donnie, Sharon Hayward and Mike all of Saint John, Dorothy Hayward of Fredericton, Ethel MacPhail of Moncton, his sons, Robert and Hannah of Sussex, Kenneth and his wife Barbara of Saint John, David and his wife Karen of Bloomfield, Ronald and Jimmy of Ontario, and by his long time family friend, Diana Austin. Grandchildren: Matthew, Roderick, Bradley, Melvin, Karen Chown, Robert Jr., Tracey Cummings, Shawna, Dawn, John Doucet, Melissa, Tasha, Sarina, Douglas Wayne, David, Stephanie, Thomas, Michael, Mark, Paul, Stacey, Andrew, Justin, James Doucet, William, Joshua, Scott, Damia. Great Grandchildren: Lindsay, Cody, Shawnee M., Travis, Shawnee G., Kaitlyn, Brenden, Parker, Nicole, Ryan, Jesse, Dylan, Dustin, Daisy Lynn, Robert, Kylie, Michaela, Courtney, Viriginia, Kerrie-Ann, Riley, Conner, Skylar, Samantha, Abigail, Eric, Alexis. Douglas Hayward Douglas was predeceased by his step-mother, Myrtle, L. (Wilson) Hayward, his son Douglas, his grandson, Adam and his granddaughter, Christine. Doug was a self-employed lumberman. He was a member of the International Long Shoremans Association for 33 years, the Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch # 20 and the R.A.O.B. New Brunswick Lodge. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where the family will be receiving relatives and friends on Sunday 2-4, 7-9. The Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch # 20 will hold a tribute Sunday at 6:45 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held from Wallace Memorial Chapel on Monday, June 10, 2002 at 2:00 pm, with Eugene Fisher officiating. Interment at Trinity Cemetery.
