Obituary of Lloyd Myers

It was with sadness that the children of the late Lloyd Myers, of Vineland, On, formerly of Sussex, NB announced his sudden passing on March 28, 2002. Lloyd is survived by his children Mary and her husband Gilbert Heggteveit of Paris, On., Preston and his partner Pamela Edwards of St. Catharines, On. and his children Christopher and Tricia; Stephen and his wife Lisa of Wimouma, Fl and their children Diane, Andrew, Holly, Robert, Toby and Sylvie; Frank and his wife Beverley of Meaford, On and their children Victoria, William, Mary and Craig; Irene and her husband David McGuire of Clarksburg, On. and their children Kevin, Karen and Heather, Great Grandfather of 13. He is also survived by his brother Gordon of Florida and his Aunt Inez Myers. As a graduate of Forestry Engineering from the University of New Brunswick in 1939, and subsequent to becoming a New Brunswick Land Surveyor, Lloyd pursued a career as Logging Superintendent at the Abitibi Pulp and Paper Co. in Pine Falls, Manitoba. It was there he met his wife of 22 years, Cecile (nee Gobiel) (Myers) Vaughan (survived). Lloyd and his young family relocated to Ontario where he enjoyed a successful career as an Ontario Land Surveyor in the Niagara Region. Further commissioned as a Canada Land Surveyor at the age of 60, he surveyed in the Yukon and Northwest Territories. Lloyd served in WWII as a Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Engineers, traveling extensively within Canada. During his retirement years Lloyd enjoyed many, many hours enthusiastically researching and compiling his family genealogy. Lloyd Nelson Myers Lloyd was born in Sussex to the late Warren and Irma (Sharp) Myers. Lloyd was predeceased by his brother Murray of Sussex. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 612 conducted a Funeral Service at the Vineland Chapel of the Tallman Funeral Home, immediate family, friends, and long time companion Lorraine Golenia and family attending. Committal service to be held at Kirk Hill Cemetery, Sussex, NB, on what would have been Lloyd's 80th birthday, on Sunday May 5, 2002, at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Douglas Cosman officiating. The Family of the late Lloyd Myers would like to express their heartfelt thank you for the acts of kindness and expressions of sympathy they received during their time of sorrow. A special thank you to dear cousin, Sharon Landry of Sussex for her thoughtfulness and efforts. Our sorrow is eased knowing that Dad's final resting place overlooks the rolling hills of Sussex, a place forever dear to him.
