Obituary of Mable Thomson

MRS. MABLE WINNIFRED CONRAD THOMSON, of Picadilly and formerly of Penobsquis, N.B. passed away at Sussex Health Centre on August 8, 2001. Born in Sussex, NB. on September 5, 1915, she was the daughter of the late James Albert and Mary Beatrice (Jones) Conrad. Winnifred was the wife of the Late James M. Thomson who passed away in 1993. She is survived by her sons Dr. David Thomson and his wife Mia-Lisa of Murray Hill, New Jersey and Paul Thomson and his wife Laura of Brantford, Ont., 4 Grandchildren Catherine, Eric, Isabella and Owen, 1 Great Grandchild, Torbjorn, Several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Ralph Conrad and by her sister Isabel Folger. Winnifred was the Church Organist for St. Paul's United Church for over 25 years. She was a member of the Sussex Kiwanis Club, the Sussex Naturalist Club, and the Sussex Historical Society, She was the Author of 'Vernor had a Vision'; 'Knocks at our Door'; and the 'Joys of Teaching', and was the coordinator of the 'Spirit of Sussex' Series and in 1994 Winnifred was honored as Citizen of the year. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), With Visitation with the family on Monday August 27th From 7-9pm. The Funeral Service will be held from St. Paul's united Church on Tuesday August 28th at 11:00 am. Interment at Pioneer Cemetery. There will be a time of fellowship with the family following the committal at St. Paul's Fellowship Hall. Donations made to the Music Department of Acadia University, St. Paul's United Church, The Sussex Library, the Sussex Kiwanis Club or to the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
