Obituary of Marina Kyte

Marina Kyte was born in Penobsquis on February 7, 1936; she was the youngest daughter of the late Edgar and Mary (Murray) Brown. She attended Penobsquis Superior School and graduated from Sussex High School in 1953. Marina lived and worked in Moncton and Toronto, married Bill Kyte in 1958 and settled in Riverview to raise a family. Marina maintained her ties to Penobsquis, spending summers at the camp and then moving there permanently in 1983. She worked at the Royal Bank, then began her new career as a stay at home Mom and worked in the family business She loved spending time with her family and was very proud of her five cherished grandchildren: She loved animals and always spoiled her dogs who went everywhere with her. Friends always joked that how nice it would be to be one of Marina's dogs! She was a wonderful cook and a green thumb gardener who loved flowers. In earlier years she enjoyed entertaining, golf, bowling and cards. Marina loved living by the river and going to the woods. She enjoyed hunting. This past September, she and her grandson Ryan tagged her last moose. Some of her favorite things were: Martin Head, Fundy lobster, sharing hunting and fishing tales, "Dusters", Louie L'Amour books, Reba McIntyre and her yearly vacation to Florida. Marina remained young at heart, sharing a sense of humor with all who knew her. She was supportive of her family and friends offering them "sage" advice, guidance and often a peek at the past. Marina is survived by two daughters: Shawnee Dollemont and Stacey MacEachern and her husband Alex "A.D." and their father, Bill Kyte, five grandchildren: Tanya and Brent Dollemont and Ryan, Thomas and Andrew MacEachern; her sister, Grace Dunfield; her sister-in-law, Marion Brown; her former son-in-law, Dennis Dollemont; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Marina was also predeceased by her brothers: Palmer who passed away in 1999 and John (Jack) who passed away in 2003. Mrs. Mary "Marina" Kyte of Penobsquis passed away at the Moncton Hospital, on February 11, 2010 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 74 .
