Obituary of Sandra Sawler

Sandra was born in Saint John on July 4, 1938 to Col. Robert and Louise Waring. She had her first birthday in Westmont and spent most of her childhood in Westside Saint John on the Manawagonish Rd. Sandra had a very comfortable childhood, she took piano music lessons and horseback riding; she was considered Daddy's Little Girl. She spent many summers with her grandparents in Belmont. She was avid animal lover and was a long distance swimmer. Sandra spent a lot of time in Mascarene at a log cabin that her father built in the 1950's which is still in the family and loved by all. She was blessed with 8 children, over the years she worked many jobs, working in hospitals, Barbours, and 4-corners Irving. She took an active part in the Millstream Scouting Movement, in particular the 1st Millstream Beavers. Sandra was accustomed to work; she could do just about anything. She couldn't wait until someone else got around to fixing or repairing things, so she learned to look after things herself. Sandra raised her children, worked on the farm, and found time to be. She volunteered at the schools her children attended throughout the years and baked and cooked for community events. Sandra loved to bake and always made the birthday cakes for her children and grandchildren and also professional wedding cakes. She was notoriously late; she loved upholstering, toll painting, gardening especially her rose bushes, crossword puzzles, sewing, knitting, nature and camping with her children, spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing, canoeing and breeding miniature poodles. She always made time for a few TV programs: Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and Hells Kitchen. Sandra returned to Sussex in 1984 where she lived in Millstream surrounded by family and friends. Sandra is survived by her daughters: Janice Trites and her husband Mark of Berwick, Sharron Dunfield of St. George, Holly Sawler and Gerald Cook of Roachville and Candice Sawler of Mississauga, ON; four sons: Rick MacVicar of Sussex, Bob MacVicar and Roberta Beechin of Sussex, Bernie Sawler and Wanda Rouse of Collina and Rian McVicar and Melanie Martin of Millstream; an honorary daughter, Heather Scott; 21 grandchildren: Lynsey Aubin and her husband Mitch, Joel Trites, Nicholas Dunfield and his wife Aimee, Robin Dunfield, Jessica Aiton and Chris Short, Dana Lynch, Luke Lynch, Christa MacVicar and Trevor Sutherland, Scott MacVicar and Alanna Campbell, Katy MacVicar and Ken Thibodeau, Allan Taylor and his wife Wendy, Jeff Taylor and Sarah MacDonald, Kerry Osbourne and her husband Philip, Kelly Paul and her husband Nelson, Erin Williams and her husband Ryan, Adam MacVicar, Bernie Paul and Rosalee Hayes, Sylvia Paul, Seth McVicar, Krynn McVicar and Rian McVicar jr; 19 great granchildren: Ellia, Sadie, Jaxon, Austin, Eric, Hannah, Caleigh, Cameron, Emily, Nathaniel, Emma, Abby, Julia, Megan, Haley, Emma, Abby, Shay and Allison; as well as several nieces and nephews and her dogs: Max and Gidgit.
