Marietta was born at home in Bains Corner on August 11, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Estella (Martin) Hunter and was the wife of the late G. Waldo Jackson who passed away in 1984.When Marietta was 14 years old, she left her large family and went to work in Saint John. At 17 years old, she married the young man that lived on the farm next to theirs. He was sporting around with one of the first vehicles in their area. Mechanics was his passion. He loved repairing airplanes (aero engine mechanic during the 2nd world war) and cars. He was gifted at his trade.
