Obituary of June Marie Baxendale

It is with utmost sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, June Marie Baxendale age 93, which occurred at the Sussex Health Centre on Friday July 2, 2021, four days shy of her 94th birthday. June was predeceased by her husband Frank in 2005. She was born in Hamilton, Ontario on July 6, 1927 a daughter to the late Thomas and Violet (Collier) Hodson.

June lived close to forty-five years in Southern Ontario before moving to the Maritimes in 1972. In her younger years she loved to dance, play softball, go bowling and paint. She was an accomplished artist. Many of the paintings in her home were originals she had painted herself. June and Frank were always on the go. They loved to hit the town and they loved to travel. When they came to Sussex in 1977 she was involved with the Catholic church, golfing with the ladies in the summer and curling with them in the winter. Her greatest love was watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports. June could always be found at the rink or at the ballfields or gymnasiums cheering on all the players. In her later years she enjoyed playing board games, watching quiz shows on tv and a good conversation over a cup of tea.

June will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children; Vincent Baxendale and Tammy Wasson of Moncton, Kristie and Deon Alcock of Sussex Corner and David and Tracy Baxendale of Fox Hill. Grandchildren; Brooke and Joe Swain, Bret Baxendale (Candice Weir-Steeves), Jade and Robert Secord, Chelsea Wasson (Nick Melanson), Reese Baxendale, and Dallas Baxendale. Great grandchildren; Hunter, Avery, Myah and Quinn. Her sister; Marianne and Larry West of Burlington, Ontario. Nieces and Nephews; Tom and Michelle West, Teresa West, Sharyl and Ralf Hoffmann, and Marc and Christine West.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176).
