Obituary of Arthur Perry

Mr. Arthur "Art" Elmer Perry was born in Coles Island on May 3, 1942; he was the son of the late Elmer and Florence (Lewis) Perry. When Art was a little boy, his sisters can remember, him and his brothers playing Big Rigs; they would run through the yard dragging bush branches behind them stirring up dust making horn noises so they would sound like big rigs. His sister, remembers finally being able to go to the store with her father one day and coming back with an ice cream cone; one brother asked for a lick and took half her ice cream, then Art asked for a lick and took the rest of her ice cream cone and his brother, remembers swinging an axe at a fern and accidentally hitting Art just above the eye with the axe. Verna recalls Art bringing fried chicken to the house for the kids and if he didn't have food; he would have change for them to go to the store, just so he could spend time with her. She and Darren also recall a trip, he was making coffee in the trailer and he must have had the kettle turned up too high because the wooden handle caught fire and so did the camp stove and the curtains; needless to say they didn't get their coffee right away. Art was a hard worker and loved to work; especially cutting wood or anything he could to help others. He loved music as long as it wasn't Tom Jones; He sang for many years and was told he had a beautiful voice; until he decided he was too old and his voice just didn't sound as good anymore. He also loved to tell jokes and make people laugh; he had a real love for life. Art enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing darts; as long as he was winning. He was an avid gardener and loved to weed and pick potato bugs for hours; although he hated bugs and once jumped two feet off the ground just to kill a bug that was on the porch and it got higher every time he told that story. Art will live on in the hearts of his beloved wife, Verna (Verrill) Perry, his children: Darren and his wife Brenda of Waterford, Danny Paterson and his wife Jean of Hunters Home, Bruce Paterson and his Lori of Havelock and Dianne Perry and her husband Jack of Canaan Forks; his brothers: Ernest and his wife Norma of Canaan, Lloyd and his wife Joyce of Moncton and Roy and his wife Charlene of Havelock; his sisters: Irene Ferris, Mary Lou Lounsbury and her husband Nelson all of Coles Island, Susan Ferris and her husband Donald of Youngs Cove Road and Ferne Perry and Todd of Hamilton, ON; his grandchildren: Matthew and his wife Sam, Misty and her husband James, Catlin and his wife Carrie, Hillary, Megan, Mattea and Tyler; his great grandsons: Dominic, Ayden and Jaxxon; his sisters-in-law, Kathy Perry and Joanne Green; as well as several nieces and nephews and his Dog, Jigs who he took for a drive in his truck every morning.
