Obituary of George A. DAVIDSON

The death of George Alvin Davidson of Apohaqui and formerly of Saint John occurred January 2, 2008 at his residence in his 93rd year. Born in Saint John, a son of the late Amos and Estella (Ritchie) Davidson. George is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 58 years Helen P. (Dibblee) Davidson, daughters; Linda White (Wayne) of Quispamsis and Christina Foley of Rothesay, son Robert (Linda) Davidson of Hampton, 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, brothers Leslie (Ina) Davidson of Sussex and Kenneth Davidson of Perth Andover and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sisters Treva and Ethel Davidson and brother Norman Davidson. George worked at farming, lumbering and meat cutting in his early years and retired from Centracare (Provincial Hospital) after a 32 year career as a psychiatric attendant. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, George did everything with his family. These activities included extensive travel, outdoor sports, bowling and gardening. A regular at the car lots with his dog – buying new cars was his passion – always under the hood. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex (506-433-2133) on Friday January 4, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9PM. A celebration of George’s life will be held on Saturday January 5, 2008 at the funeral home chapel at 2:00PM. Interment will be at Pioneer Cemetery, Penobsquis. Donations made to the Apohaqui Community Church would be appreciated.
