Obituary of Russell Lloyd Hanson

The death of Russell Lloyd Hanson of Sussex Corner occurred on December 22, 2008 at the Sussex Health Centre at the age of 83. Lloyd was born at Saint John a son of the late George and Olga (Walker) Hanson and was the husband of Juanita (Tremaine) Hanson. Lloyd is survived by his wife, daughters Marilyn Brown (Wilson) of Saint John, Faye Read (Geoff) of Searsville, sons Donald (Camilla) Hanson of Millbrook and Todd Hanson at home, grandchildren; Scott Avery, Randy (Caroline) Avery and Amanda (Richard) Snooks, five great grandchildren, sisters; Doris Olsen of Cassidy Lake and Wendy Bach of Poodiac and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters; Olga “Parn” MacKay, Gladys Sherwood and Greta Snodgrass and brothers Gordon and William Hanson. Lloyd was very proud to volunteer to serve overseas during World War II with the Army Service Corps and enjoyed his career as a truck driver, retiring from Crosby Molasses in 1979. In early years he enjoyed fishing. Lloyd loved entertaining people, music, playing the accordion and tinkering with machinery and cars. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex (506-433-2133) on Sunday from 4-8PM. Sussex Branch #20 Royal Canadian Legion will hold a Tribute on Sunday at 3:45PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday December 29, 2008 at 1:00PM in the funeral home chapel. Donations made to the Lung Association or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
