Ronald Adair

Obituary of Ronald Adair

Ron Adair was born in Picadilly on August 21, 1927, he was the son of the late James Andrew and Gertrude (Kilpatrick) Adair and the husband of the late Bea (Geldart) Adair who passed away in 1993.

Ron worked hard to give his family everything they wanted, but not always needed.  He worked for many years as a woodsman foreman before going to work for Modern Construction in
Moncton, where he retired as a superintendent. After retirement, he had to keep busy, so he worked for John Dysart, Harley Hunt and Fenco.  That still was not busy enough for him so he took up a hobby refinishing old furniture.  He started going to auctions and he bought so many chairs that he became known as the chairman on Magnolia Ave., he had over 300 chairs at one time.

Ron lived a very full life and was loved by his family and he loved them, even his sons-in-law Mike and Bry were like sons to him. Ron idolized his family; they were his life. He was so proud of Wanda and Lynette and the loving caring men they chose as husbands, who were such good dads to his grandchildren that he cherished. Ron loved the time he spent with his brother Jimmy and his nephew Marty, he always knew he could count on either one of them, Marty for going to the sales or finishing a chair with him and Jimmy to go to the sales and in earlier days moose hunting in Newfoundland.  It was Jimmy’s weekly visits dad looked forward to and he cherished to the end.
Ron was a father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin and he was one of a kind. We are glad and proud to say you were our ours.  We’ll love and miss you always.

He will live on in the hearts of his two daughters: Wanda O'Donnell and her husband Mike and Lynette Almon and her husband Bryant all of Picadilly; four grandchildren: Jason O'Donnell and Holly, Andrew O'Donnell and Robin, Katelyn O'Donnell, Kelsie and Brittany Almon; his brother: Jim Adair and his wife Eloise of Picadilly; five sisters: Dorothy Dalling of Sussex, Genevieve Dalling of Dutch Valley, Ruby McLeod of Sussex Corner, Darlene McFarlane and her husband Nelson of Plumweseep, Donna McKenzie and her husband Doug of Ontario; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Ronald Adair of Sussex passed away at the Kiwanis Nursing Home on June 5, 2008 at the age of 80.
