Obituary of Laurence Hoyt Parlee

Laurence Hoyt Parlee passed away peacefully at the Sussex Health Centre on January 20, 2003 at the age of 88. He was the beloved husband of Winnifred Francis (Darling) Parlee. A son of the late Roy and Bessie (Pickett) Parlee. Laurence grew up in Parleeville, Kings County. He was active in the Boys and Girls Club and in 1934 he went to the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto. Laurence enjoyed his farm life until he retired to Roachville with his wife Winnifred in 1980. Being very active with his garden, bowling and crokinole, Laurence always joked and loved a good game of cribbage at the end of an evening with Mum. Laurence was a member of Trinity Anglican Church, Sussex. Laurence is survived by his wife Winnifred, sons, Philip (Charlene), Sussex Corner and Terry (Trish), Dartmouth, NS, grandchildren Lyndsay and David Parlee, Roachville, step grandchildren Scott and Rachel Brown, Sussex Corner and a great grandson Deven, Roachville; sisters Mildred Parlee, Sussex, Lesley Mills, Sussex, Winnifred (Ronald) Brown, Cornhill, Pauline (George) Chambers, Rockville, Norma (Ralph) Kelly, Riverview and many nieces and nephews. Laurence was predeceased by brothers Rutherford and Donald, sister-in-law's Margaret and Mary and brother-in-law Laurence Mills. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex (506-433-2133) on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held at Trinity Anglican Church, Sussex on Thursday January 23, 2003 at 2:00 PM with Reverend David Barrett officiating. Interment will take place at the Church of the Ascension Cemetery, Apohaqui in the spring. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations made to the charity of the donor's choice.
