Donald Stevens

Obituary of Donald Holly Stevens

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Donald "Duckie" Holly Stevens announce his passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on May 26, 2023 at the age of 67.

Donald was born on February 11, 1956 in Minto, NB the first child of Holly and Stella (MacAllister) Stevens. He loved to tease and torment and played havoc right from the start, into his school years and long after. Rules and expectations were something that applied to other people. Donald did his own thing, on his own terms, and ended up in more scrapes and on more adventures that anyone could ever keep track of. This was part of his absolute self proclaimed "Stevens Charm" and the base of so many of his much loved stories.

He was a hard working man and a jack of all trades. He spent many years working at Silver Culture doing tree thinning and then on to drive rock truck for Dibblee Construction, Dexters Construction and a few others. He truly had a passion for motorcycles and time spent in the kitchen cooking.

He had the gift of gab and once he had introduced himself, that was it - you were friends. If you thought for one moment that he would not stop to talk to you, if he saw you out - You were very much mistaken. Donald was the epitome of the life of any gathering - He was always laughing, teasing and tormenting anyone who would let him. He never met a joke he did not like and if he ran out, you would bet he was quick to make one up on the spot, laugh his big laugh and say "that right there, was funny".

Donald would be the first in line to help anyone who needed it, he would give the shirt off his back or his last dime if he thought it would help someone else. He had a huge heart and wanted nothing more than to be of service to others. He has truly left his mark on all those whose lives he has touched.

Donald's memory will live on in the hearts of his loving wife of 16 years, Cindy Stevens; his son, Ben Stevens and his wife Sarah and their children: Ethan and Alexys; his son, Joe Stevens and his wife Megan and their children: Damien, James and Bladen; his stepdaughter, Crystal Boudreau and her husband Chris and their children: Emely, AJ, Michaela and Hannah; his stepson, Mike Small and his wife Lacy and their son, Jackson; his chosen daughter, Tracey Selwah and her husband Desmond and their daughter, Jade; his siblings: Connie Lee and her husband Paul, Kevin Stevens and his wife Cindy, Terry Stevens and his wife Nancy, Penny Stevens and Hollee Kew and her husband Joel; as well as several nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Craig Stevens and by his nephew, RJ Vail.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). In true Donald fashion, in one final attempt to help someone else, he has donated his body to science. At Donald’s request no visitation or funeral service will be held.

Donations in memory of Donald made to the IWK Children's Hospital would be appreciated by the family. Condolences to the family and donations may be made through WallaceFuneralHome.com
