Jake Mitton

Obituary of Jake Mitton

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Jason “Jake” John (Piers) Mitton announce his sudden passing on July 21, 2023 at the Saint John Regional Hospital with his family by his side at the age of 50.

Born in Sussex on March 2, 1973, Jake was a great, kind, loving and wonderful soul. He had a deep love of his family and was the life of any family gathering – usually with his guitar in hand.

Jake would do anything for his brother, Shane; his sister, Bobbie-Jo was his pride and joy and he had a special unbreakable bond with his mother, Paulette. They did everything together, until he met the love of his life, Cyndi and together they would build their lives for ten wonderful years.

He loved the outdoors and from a young age was known for his long walks in the woods, canoeing and camping. His true passion was of course his guitar. He travelled all over North America with his guitar in his hand, writing many beautiful songs and sharing his amazing voice. No stage was more loved by him then playing with his uncle Trent, aunt Pam and his friend Hodge.

He will live on in the hearts of his mom, Paulette Mitton; his brother, Shane Mercer of Alberta; his sister, Bobbie-Jo Mitton of Sussex Corner; his very best buddy, Little Maddie; his half sister, Wanda (Paul) of Ontario; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

He is predeceased by his dad, Bob Mitton; his maternal grandparents: Snowie and Hazen Mercer; his paternal grandparents: Willard and Mildred Mitton; his special uncle, Carl Mercer; as well as several aunts and uncles.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176). All arrangements will be held privately.
