Obituary of Otty White

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Otty Francis White announce his passing at the Oromocto Public Hospital on July 27. 2023 after a period of failing health at the age of 92.

Otty was born in Cambridge Narrows on October 6, 1930, the youngest son of Clifford C. White and Alma A. (Kincade) White.

He was a kind and gentle man who was born with Spina Bifida but overcame his disability to live a full and active life. He worked hard all his life, mostly on the family farm in Cambridge Narrows. In his spare time, he fixed all kinds of machinery, even clocks and watches. Otty was a lifelong member of the Cambridge Baptist Church and an active member in his community.

He is survived by one sister, Bessie (Betty) Hinton; one nephew, Lorne Perry (Delores) of Sussex; two nieces: Joan Tubbs (Jim) and Jane Follis (Richard) of St. Stephen. and one cousin, Donna Langille of Saint John. Extended family includes two great nieces: Valrie Perry (Charles Brenton) of Sussex and Rachel Ames (Marquis Brisebois) and family of St, Jean, QC and two great nephews: Steven Perry and family of NS and John Ames (Holly) and family of St. Stephen.

Otty was predeceased by one brother, Harry E. White; three sisters: Ruby J. Perry (Nelson), Ida M. White and Irma M. White and one nephew, Kevin L. Perry.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176) from where visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 from 1-2pm. The Celebration of Otty’s life will be held immediately following in the Wallace Community Chapel. The interment will follow at the Cambridge Baptist Cemetery, Lakeview Rd, Cambridge, NB.

Special thanks are extended to wonderful neighbors: Tony and Susan and to Special Care workers:  Sabrina and Karen and the many other caregivers who looked after him so well. Words are not adequate to express our sincere gratitude for all the care and compassion given to our loved one over the years. Thanks are also extended to the doctors and staff of the Oromocto Hospital for his care in his final days.
