Obituary of Lloyd Hawthorne

The passing of Lloyd Hawthorne occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at the age of 78. Born in Saint John, NB on May 6, 1945, he was the son of the late Robert and Kathleen (Dibblee) Hawthorne.

Lloyd never met a stranger, and could always be found chatting with a friend, new or old. He loved to be in the woods working and was always on the go. In his younger years, Lloyd worked for Ora Saunders sawmill, and in his later years for Rupert’s Carpentry. His sense of humour, singing skills, affinity for coffee runs and love for a drive down a good country road will not be forgotten by those who knew him.

He will live on in the hearts of his loving wife of 52 years, Florence (Veysey) Hawthorne; his children: Ivy (Arthur) Thomson, Joe (Carolyn) Hawthorne, Cindy Hawthorne (Beck Hobneck); grandchildren: Olivia Thomson, Sophia Thomson, Brandin Hawthorne, Carrie Hawthorne; devoted uncle to niece Kathy (Mike) Hourihan and nephew Jimmy (Lena) Hodgin; and his special kitty friend Bear.  Along with his parents, he is also predeceased by his sister Ann Hodgin, brother-in-law Ernie Hodgin and nephew Bobby Hodgin.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176) from where visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 from 4 to 7pm. A Celebration of Lloyd’s life will be held at Wallace Community Chapel on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 11:00 am. The interment will take place in Riverbank Cemetery.
