Obituary of Wayne Thorne

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Eugene Thorne (76) of Picadilly, NB on December 13, 2023. He was the son of the late George and Lula (Lewis) Thorne.

Wayne worked as a “jack-of-all-trades” at GE Barbour Foods for 32 years. He enjoyed camping with his family and a Sunday-drive to pick up hubcaps and watch the hot air balloons over Sussex. In his later years, he loved watching the hummingbirds from the window, sneaking treats to Maggie under the table, and looked forward to visits from his boys and grandkids.

Wayne is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Jean (nee Gregg); their sons, Todd (Mary), Roger (Colleen), Mike (Jane), and Troy (Stephanie); grandchildren, Corey (Molly), Samantha (Kaleb), Ava and Leslee and his sweet dog Maggie; his siblings: Ruby McFarlane (Edward), Joan Ward (Wayne), Judy Pascoe (Ivan), Charles (Doris), David, William (Jeanette), Doug and Carl (Emily); his sisters-in-law: Cathy, Anne and Sue Thorne; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his siblings: Mildred Perry (Roy), Beulah, Ronald, Lloyd, Brian, Arnold, Donald and Robert Thorne.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176) from where visitation will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 from 11-1pm. A celebration of Wayne’s life will be immediately following.
