Obituary of Geraldine Elizabeth Dylan

It is with deep sadness that the family of Geraldine Elizabeth Melanson – Dylan announces her passing on December 27, 2023. Born August 5th, 1937, in Wolfville, N.S., She was the daughter of the late Eugene and Myrtle (Tanner) Melanson.

She is survived by her son, David Rodwell, Ontario. Her daughters: Theresa (Bob) Kimball and their children and grandchildren, Alison Ley (Peter) and their children and grandchildren and Lisa Dylan (Bruce Brophy) and their children and grandchildren. Gerry is also survived by her  brothers: Eddy, and his wife Mel and Genie, and his wife Doris.

For the past 2 1/2 years, she lived at Green Meadows Berwick Place, New Brunswick.

She was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Raymond, an infant granddaughter, Michelle, and who she considered her first husband, Bob Dylan.

Gerry and Bob were also foster parents.  Gerry was a very creative person. She could sew, knit, crochet, decorate cakes, arrange flowers, write, and draw.   Two and a half years ago, she asked God for 6 months.  He gave her 2 1/2 happy, caring and kind years. She loved Christmas and always found a way to make it feel magical.  She also had a passion for her pets.   She felt her passing was just another step in a great adventure.  She said she heard her father call her name and knew she was finally safe and not afraid of passing.

She wanted her many caregivers throughout the past 10 years to know how much she appreciated every one of them.  Thank you to all the ladies at Berwick Place who helped her to be healthier and happy; all the extra-mural nurses and Anne-Marie Creamer who took care of her health for over 20 years; and, Dr. O'Neill and the palliative care team at the Sussex Health center.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Dr., Sussex, NB (506-433-1176). There will not be a service or visitation, as were Geraldine’s wishes.  She had written her own obituary and chose where she would rest and wishes to be interred in the spring when the flowers and trees start to bloom.

Donations in Memory of Geraldine may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences to the family and donations may be made through wallacefuneralhome.com.
