Obituary of Paul Floyd

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Paul Richard Floyd announce his unexpected passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on February 6, 2024 at the age of 59.

Paul was born in Sussex, on October 27, 1964; he was the son of Don and Bernice (Otis) Floyd. He grew up and spent his entire life in Cassidy Lake.

Paul was a hardworking man. He began his mining career with the potash mine in Cassidy Lake. Upon their closure he moved on to PCS and then returning to Cassidy Lake to work in the silica mine. Paul was never one to be idle, so when the opportunity came up for him to work for CMAC a gold mine in Nunavut, he could not let it pass him by.

He loved to be outdoors, whether it was snowmobiling, kayaking or even fishing. He was always happy to be outside enjoying life. He loved his times spent with his trusty four legged co-pilots no matter what car or truck he had over the years. You could be guaranteed if he drove passed you – you would get a nod and a smile or a big wave out the driver’s side window and a dog out the passenger side.

He loved his Tim Hortons coffee and Mrs. Dunsters and driving “loser laps” around town. He always had time to stop and talk, to tell a story or a joke.

Paul always had a beaming contagious smile and loved to make people laugh. He was always helping someone and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He will be deeply missed.

He will live on in the hearts of his parents; his brothers: Norman of Cassidy Lake and Jack and his wife Bernice of Norton; his sisters: Elaine Floyd-Shiyoji of BC and Debbie Armstrong and her husband Doug of Drurys Cove; his nieces and nephews: Cindy Ostrom (Byron), Amy Floyd (Drew), Kenny Floyd (Sam), Jason Armstrong ( Emily), Matt Armstrong (Kayelyn) and Scott Floyd; as well as several great nieces and great nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Along with his grandparents he is predeceased by his brother-in-law, Terry Shiyoji.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176) from where visitation will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 2-4pm. A celebration of Paul’s life will be immediately following
