Obituary of Ken Murray

MURRAY, Kenneth MacKay - passed away peacefully on the 8th day of February, 2024 at his home with his loving wife by his side. Born in Vancouver, British Columbia on June 15, 1935 (age 88) he was the son of the late Leister Murray and Frances (Johnson) He is survived by his wife Janet , daughters Kerry Murray, Ottawa, Ont., Nanci Chouinard (Guy), Saskatoon, Sask., and Pamela Murray, Fernie, B.C. Grandchildren Erin Chouinard (Jesse Daniels), Victoria, B.C., Drew Chouinard, Saskatoon, Sask., Desmond Harrison, Fernie, B.C., Jessica Parent, Windsor, Ont,, Megan Giacomelli (Jeff), Petawawa, Ont., Hannah Boucher, Pembroke, Ont., Great grandchildren Senoa, Cesare and Maxime. Sisters in law Karen Lewis (Vic), Cambridge, Ont., Judie Deluney, Sussex, N.B. and Freda Murray, Ottawa, Ont. Nephew and Nieces - Jodi (Pennie) Deluney, Sussex, Tara Deluney, Calaundra, Australia, Angie (Peter) Ursel, Lindsay, Ont., and Cindy Jordan, North Bay.

He was predeceased by his parents, brother Donald Murray and his brother-in-law Joe Deluney, nephew, Jamie Murray and niece Julie Madson. 

Ken joined the R.C.M.P. from Victoria, B.C. and took his training in Ottawa. He retired after 32 years from London Detachment. Following his retirement from the force he worked in the airline industry in Corporate Security. This job allowed him to travel the world. During his 10 years in the airline industry he worked for Wardair, Canadian Airlines and Air Canada.

Ken was an avid runner and realized his dream when he qualified and ran the Boston Marathon. He loved to travel and to cruise with friends and family.  

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at St. Paul’s United Church, Sussex, N.B. at 11 A.M. Reception to follow.

The family would like to express their deepest thanks to Dr. Butler, all the Extra Mural Nurses and the kind and loving Home care workers who helped keep Ken at home. Their kindness, care and compassion will never be forgotten.
