Obituary of Irma Vail-Chatson

It is with sadness that the family of Irma Isabelle Vail-Chatson announce her passing which occurred peacefully with her family at her side, on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was born in Fredericton, NB, on December 12, 1947, a daughter of the late Samuel and Mary (McKnight) Paisley.

Irma is survived by her husband Larry Chatson; daughter Datha Leavitt and her husband Jeff of New Town, NB; grandsons: Daniel (Jessica) Leavitt, Bradley (Shay) Leavitt; three great-grandchildren: Gracelynn, Malachi, Landon and soon to be forth great-grandson Alexander; sisters: Anne Johnston, Helena (Rev. Harold) Kinney, Patricia Jordan; sisters-in-law: Rayma Paisley, Rosalie Paisley; along with several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her first husband Ernie Vail; brothers: Bill Paisley, Arnold Paisley; and brothers-in-law: Richard Johnston, Fred Vail and George Jordan.

Thank you Larry for staying by Mom's side and caring for her during her battle with cancer through the good and bad days. I love and appreciate all you did for her.

The family would like to thank her wonderful homemakers; Nancy Dyer and Christina Gregg, The Extra Mural, Dr. Love and the nurses at Saint John Palletive Care for the excellent care given to Mom.  Your kindness and compassion towards her, and also to us, went above and beyond.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176) from where visitation will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 4 to 7pm. Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 11:00am from Wallace Community Chapel. Interment will take place at Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Sussex Corner in the spring.
