Charlie Asselstine

Obituary of Charlie Asselstine

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Charles Edwin Asselstine announce his sudden passing at his home on April 8, 2024 at the age of 67.

Born in Saint John on March 17, 1957; he was the son of the late John and Edwina (McLeod) Asselstine.

Charlie loved to laugh and tease; and especially loved to make other people laugh. He had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back to help someone else.

He was a salt of the earth, kind and loving man. At time’s a man of few words and stubborn as the day is long; but the love he had for his family was unmatched. When Charlie loved you, he loved you hard and with everything he had.

Charlie was a good cook and never ceased to make enough food to feed an onion. He never met anything with an engine that he couldn’t fix and was always more than happy to help someone out. The times spent in the garage with his boys and all those who came for visits or to have work done, were the highlight of his days.  He loved a smoke and a good drink and time spent with his favorite “kid”, Latte.

His sense of humor and zest for life were contagious. Charlie had a unique way of finding joy in the simple things. He believed in the power of laughter, the importance of friendship, and the value of creating lasting memories. His presence was a source of joy and comfort, and his laughter was a melody that resonated in the hearts of those who heard it.

He will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Charlie will live on in the hearts of his loving wife and best friend, Kimberly Allaby; his children: Dwayne Asselstine and Donna of Hampton, Kenny Asselstine of Belleisle, Sarah Asselstine of Nova Scotia, Steven Asselstine of Sussex; Troy Allaby and Jennifer of British Columbia, Joe Stevens and Megan of Sussex, Tyler Allaby and Tiffani of Bloomfield, Josh Allaby and Chelsea of Apohaqui and Jesse Cahill and Kaylen of Hampton; his grandchildren: Khloe, Emma, Owen, Ryan, Hudson, Olivia, Charly, Austin, Wyatt, Halia, Graecyn, Cara, Courtland, Camden, Kyle (Nicole), Damien, James, Bladen, Ty, Christian, Layla, Beau, Shanikwa, Quincy, Percy, Jessie-Lynn, Jacoby, Jaylen, Calleigh and Jayce; his great grandchildren: Ellie, Easton, Emberlee, Cooper and Avery; his friend, Mel Goodland (Georgina); as well as nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents; he is predeceased by his brothers: John, Alfred and Bob Asselstine; his sisters: Eleanor and Dawn; his grandson, Donovan Asselstine and his favorite “kid”, Latte.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex (506-433-1176). A graveside service will be held from Evergreen Cemtery on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at 10:00am.
