Obituary of Mona McDonald

Mrs. Mona May McDonald of the Kiwanis Nursing Home and formerly of Hammondvale, NB, passed away peacefully with her grandchildren by her side, at her residence on August 29, 2006 at the age of 99. Born in Jeffries Corner, NB on March 2, 1907. Mona was predeceased by her first husband, Orlie McDonald who passed away in 1960 and by her second husband, Roy McDonald who passed away in 1992. Mona is survived by her three granddaughters: Connie Moss and her husband Kevin of Penobsquis, Carol McDonald of Lower Millstream and Heather Smith and her husband Lloyd of Hampton; five great grandchildren: Aaron, Ryan and Nathan Moss, Ashley and Nicole Smith; four sisters: Marion Ryan of Riverview, Myrna Cook of Nauwigewauk, Edith Armstrong of Sussex, Glenna Starkey of Newtown; two brothers: Alex Robinson of Sussex Corner and Donald Robinson and his wife Elsie of Lower Cove, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mona was predeceased by her two sons: Orland and his wife Theresa and Delbert and his wife Eileen; two brothers: Noble and Murray; four sisters: Alice Robinson, Lillian Martin, Dolly Patton and Eurilla Hawkes. Mona was raised by her grandparents on the family farm in Jeffries Corner and was the eldest of 13 children. In her early years she worked on the farm doing milking and tending to the cattle, horses and chickens. She raised chickens on her own for some personal spending money.
