Obituary of Lula Thorne

Mrs. Lula Pearl Thorne of 21 Cedar Ave., Sussex, New Brunswick, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on August 26, 2006 at the age of 93. Born in Youngs Cove on August 4, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Murray and Maggie (Barton) Lewis and the step-daughter of the late Cora Lewis and the beloved wife of the late George R. Thorne who passed away in 1968. Lula is survived by her daughters: Mildred and her husband Roy Perry of Sunderland, Ontario, Ruby and her husband Edward McFarlane of Rockville, Joan and her husband Wayne Ward of Surrey, BC and Judith and her husband Ivan Pascoe of Sussex, her sons: Arnold and his wife Sue of Buckhorn, Ontario, Charles and his wife Doris of Sussex, Donald and his wife Gail of Ottawa, Robert and his wife Anne of Moncton, David and his partner Dale Muir of Mt. Middleton, William and his wife Jeanette of Boutiliers Point, Wayne and his wife Jean of Picadilly, Douglas and his wife Barbara of Toronto, Ontario, Brian and his wife Cathy of Sussex and Carl and his wife Emily of Sussex, her brothers: Ernest and his wife Mary of Sussex and Randolph and his wife Phyllis of Moncton, her sister, Julia Almon of Hamilton, Ontario, her daughter-in-law, Marie Thorne of Dartmouth, NS, 46 grandchildren, 69 great grandchildren, 3 great great granddaughters, as well as several nieces and nephews. Lula (Lou) was an Avid Bingo Fan and enjoyed her knitting and card games such as Skip Bo and Yahtzee. She also enjoyed visits from Grand, Great Grand and Great Great Grandchildren. Her door was always open to friends and relatives. Lula was predeceased by her daughter, Beulah, her sons: Ronald and Lloyd, her brothers: Harry and Norman, her sisters: Edith, Dorothy and Elizabeth, her grandchildren: John Wayne Douglas and Alan Richard, her sons-in-law: Alyre Cyr and Kristian Peterson and her daughter-in-law, Betty. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). Visitation will be held at Wallace Funeral Home on Monday, 2-4pm and 7-9pm and Tuesday 2-4pm, 7-9pm. The Funeral Service will be held from St. Paul's United Church on Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 2:00 pm.
