Obituary of James MacLeod

Mr. James Malcolm MacLeod, of Plumweseep, NB, passed away at Saint John Regional Hospital on October 4, 2002. Born in Inverness, NS on December 25, 1940, he was the son of the late John Dan and Ellen Ann (MacPhail) MacLeod. Jim is survived by his beloved wife Edna V. (MacKay) MacLeod, his daughter, Tricia MacLeod and Mark Johnson of Halifax, his son, Stephen MacLeod of Antigonish, his brother, Tommy MacLeod and his wife Patricia of Blues Mills, NS, his sister, Mary Parker and her husband Charles of Halifax, NS, a granddaughter, Kristyn and many nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his sister, Helen Gillis. Jim or Jamie as he was affectionately known in Cape Breton, grew up on his beloved island. In Halifax, he won the heart of a young lady who happened to be from just down the road. After stops in St. John's, Toronto, and New Glasgow, Jim and Edna arrived in Sussex. As they built strong and loving friendships, this town became home. Jim was a retired insurance representative and was chairman of the Board of Directors for Fundy Mutual Insurance He was an active member of St. Paul's United Church, an Elder, a member of the Church Session, the choir and the Joint Search Committee. He was also a member of the Gyro Club. Jim was a sports enthusiast and volunteered many hours with the Sussex Minor Hockey Association, Boys Scouts of Canada and Y's Men Club. Jim was a man who loved people. He showed his family ongoing love and devotion. To his friends, he was a fun and caring confident. To those he would meet day to day he gave a smile, lots of time for a chat and genuine concern. James Malcolm MacLeod We will miss him terribly. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where the family received relatives and friends. The Funeral Service is held from St. Paul's United Church in Sussex, on Monday, October 7, 2002 at 2:00 pm, with the Rev. Philip Dallimore officiating. There will be a time of visitation at the Forbes United Church in River Denys, NS, Tuesday from 12:30-2:30 p.m. The committal service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Stewartdale Cemetery, Stewartdale, Nova Scotia. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Arthritis Society or to the memorial of the donors choice.
