Obituary of Isabella Robinson

Mrs. Isabella Robinson, of 119 Church Ave., Sussex, New Brunswick passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on September 20, 2002. Mrs. Robinson was born in Belleisle, New Brunswick on February 13, 1902. She was the daughter of the late W. Herbert and Effa Idella (Vail) Kirk of Belleisle, New Brunswick and Boston, Mass and wife of the late J.F. Eldon Robinson a widely known Sussex businessman and supporter of Community Development who passed away in 1954. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara, son-in-law, Harold R. Young of Sussex, and several nieces and nephews. A brother William H. Kirk of Cape Cod and Florida predeceased her. Mrs. Robinson trained as a nurse at the Montreal General Hospital. She was a cousin of the late Dr. Duncan H. McAlister, a leading Physician and Surgeon in Sussex, and member of the Federal Parliament, many years ago. She was long interested in community health matters and had been a continuing member of the Auxiliaries of the Frances Sproule Hospital, the first such in Sussex; the succeeding Kings County Memorial Hospital and the present-day Health Centre. In 1995 Mrs. Robinson was presented with the Senator Clarence and Frances Emerson Life Membership Award by the New Brunswick Auxiliary Hospital Association in recognition of her many years of voluntary service to the various Sussex hospitals. Mrs. Robinson also found much pleasure in playing badminton and golf and in caring for her outstanding flower and shrub gardens. She was a charter member of the Sussex Red Cross and the I.O.D.E.; a life member of the Kings County Historical and Archival Society. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church and for many years was a key worker in its United Church Women's Organization. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). The family will be receiving relatives and friends at her home, 119 Church Avenue, Sussex on Sunday 2-4, 7-9. The Funeral Service will be held from St. Paul's United Church on Monday, September 23, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Philip Dallimore officiating. Interment at Kirk Hill Cemetery.
